4 February 2009
The Inquiry is now heavily involved in the process of taking statements from witnesses, and this process will continue for some time. Following the Procedural Hearing on 21 November 2008, further consideration has been given to the issue of specialist assistance for the Inquiry, and on 3 February 2009, the Chairman issued his decision about this.
The text of the decision is available here.
Having considered an application from Mr Alan Dunbar, the Chairman has decided to designate him as a core participant, and determined that he should be publicly funded by the inquiry and represented along with Mr Foley, Mr Geddes, Mr Halliday, Ms McBride, Mr McKenna, Mr Mackenzie, Mr Macpherson and Mr Stewart by Mr Holmes of Turcan Connell
No further Procedural Hearings have been held, or are currently planned. In order to allow the Inquiry team and core participants adequate preparation time, the main hearings will begin in mid-May at the earliest. It is expected that hearings will be held on no more than four days a week, normally Tuesday to Friday, and probably from 10:30am to 4pm.
Hearings will not continue beyond 10 July and may resume in the second half of August, and again in the last two weeks of September. They will be held in the Maryhill Community Central Hall, Maryhill Road, Glasgow.
